GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Police say a man attempted to kidnap several young children in Belmont.
Investigators say the children, who ranged in age from six to seven-years-old, were playing near the roadway on River Loop Road when they were allegedly approached by the suspect who drove up and “winked” at the children and said “I am going to take you.”
The children say they ran back to their home and reported the incident to an adult.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 50’s with white hair and a white beard and wearing a black t-shirt.
The vehicle the suspect was reportedly driving is described as an older, green Buick Century with a faded hood and trunk. Β The vehicle was also missing hubcaps and possibly had a South Carolina plate.
Anyone with information on this attempted kidnapping is asked to call 911.
