IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities say a North Iredell High School student has been charged with making a false threat after a social media post circulated through the community.

According to reports, on Wednesday night, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office became aware of a social media photograph of a student holding a rifle with the caption “don’t come to school tomorrow.”

Sheriffs were able to locate the suspect, Jared Neil Mecimore, and, following an interview, concluded  the incident was a false threat.

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office communicated the situation to the Iredell County School System and the principal of North Iredell High School to make sure the information had been passed along to the parents of the students.
