One Dead, Three Injured After Police Chase That Ended In Anson County

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Officials are investigating after one person died and three others were seriously injured after a police chase that started in Union County.

Investigators say a trooper attempted to stop a Dodge minivan for a speeding violation on US 74 in Union County just before midnight.  The driver of the minivan is accused of not stopping for the trooper, initiating a pursuit.

As the pursuit entered Anson County, the trooper performed a precision immobilization technique, according to a news release.

The driver of the minivan then lost control, traveled off the road and overturned several times.  As a result of the collision, the driver and three passengers were ejected from the minivan.  Investigators say all the individuals were juveniles.

The driver and two passengers were taken to a hospital in Charlotte for treatment.  Another female passenger was pronounced dead on the scene, according to troopers.

Investigators have not released the names of anyone involved in the accident.
