Wilson’s Moment of Good: Akeliah Stewart, The Relatives Crisis Center Program Supervisor
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It is one of Wilson’s favorite things to do…present his Wilson’s Moment of Good Award to someone who is special and works hard to help others. Today while at The Relatives On Ramp he surprised Akeliah Stewart who is the Crisis Center Program Supervisor with The Relatives.
As the program supervisor with the Crisis Center Akeliah works closely with the kids who have come to The Relatives where they find a safe place from homelessness or serious family issues. One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning teamed up with Wilson to give Akeliah $500 in giftcards to take the kids at the center to enjoy a movie or just have a little fun.
The Relatives is the Safe Place agency for Mecklenburg County with a local network of businesses, churches, schools, transportation services, and community locations that were willing to post Safe Place signs and identify as a place for youth in crisis to get help. Any child or teen can ask for help at a Safe Place location and be connected to the Youth Crisis Center.
