Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested
CHARLOTTE, NC — Police have arrested Muhammad Bey, 58, for the robbery of a northwest Charlotte Wells Fargo Thursday.
The robbery occurred around 11:38am at the Wells Fargo on Couloak Drive. Officials say Bey went up to a bank employee and handed them a note demanding money. Bey then took off in a vehicle.
CMPD officers located Bey a short time later and a chase ensued. According to reports, the chase ended when Bey drove down a dead-end street on Lakewood Avenue. Sources say roughly $11,000 was found in the car.
Bey was arrested taken to CMC for treatment of a medical condition, officials say. Once released, he will be charged with two counts of Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and additional charges related to the vehicle chase.
Police say Bey was also responsible for a Rite-Aid robbery that happened on April 24th.
