MONROE, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man accused of robbing several businesses in Monroe.
Officers responded to an alarm call at a PNC Bank on Dickerson Boulevard just before 5:30am Tuesday where they say they found Bernardo Perez-Sanchez inside the bank and armed with a handgun.
Officers quickly surrounded the building and apprehended Perez-Sanchez while he was exiting the back door of the business, according to a news release.
As a result of the investigation, police have also charged Perez-Sanchez with breaking into the A&G Laundromat on April 3rd, a Quick Mart on March 20th and attempting to break into the Low Price Grocery Store on Feb. 15th.
Perez-Sanchez has been charged with three counts of breaking and entering and larceny, four counts of injury to real property, one count of attempted breaking and entering, one count of possession of a stolen firearm and one count of possession of burglary tools.
He is currently being held in the Union County Jail under a $70,000 bond.
