CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD is currently investigating a shooting that seriously injured one person Friday afternoon in northwest Charlotte.
The shooting happened around 1:30pm on Oregon Street at Rozzelles Ferry Road. This is the same location where Daveon Andrews was shot and killed on Memorial Day.
Emotions ran high last night among family and friends of Andrews, as what started as a march and vigil for peace quickly shifted into chaos.
Police, who were there for the vigil, had to step in to break up a fight that broke out in the group. That same group of people were calling for an end to the violence just moments before the fight.
Police have not said if Friday’s shooting is related to the Memorial Day murder or fight that happened Thursday evening.
