Original Story:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police need help identifying an infant who was abandoned by a woman at a west Charlotte apartment complex.
Investigators say they received a call just before 7am Friday morning in reference to an abandoned infant.
The male caller told officers he met a woman and her infant Thursday evening around 9pm while walking through the Lakewood Manor complex on Watson Drive. The woman reportedly asked the man to watch the baby for a while and then never returned.
The woman, who police say could possibly be the mother of the child, is described as a young, dark skinned black female, approximately 170-180lbs and was last seen wearing shorts and a tank top.
The infant is a female, possibly 6-8 months old and was left wearing a red plaid outfit. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 911.
