Statesville Man Arrested For Alexander County Stabbing And Robbery

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police in Statesville have arrested a man wanted for a stabbing and burglary in Alexander County.

According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office Shawn Donnell Whren Jr., 26, was located and arrested on Old Salisbury Road, after a brief foot pursuit.

Whren Jr. was wanted for a June 4th incident in Alexander County.   Reports indicate Alexander County Deputies found Steven Anderson, 66, with multiple stab wounds in his residence.  Mr. Anderson’s residence had been broken into and Mr. Anderson was confronted by Whren Jr., who demanded money.  Authorities believe Whren Jr. and Mr. Anderson were acquaintances.

Whren Jr. was transferred to the Alexander County Detention Center and charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault with Intent to Kill or Inflict Serious Injury, and First Degree Burglary.
