Man Shot, Killed In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C — CMPD is investigating Charlotte’s 48th homicide.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a call for “an assault with a deadly weapon” at the 5300 block of Kimmerly Woods Drive Sunday afternoon.

Upon arrival, officers located Tommy Jarad Maddox, 24,with an apparent gunshot wound lying in front of an apartment building.

The victim was arguing with a women when a group approached them and shot Maddox in the head, according to police.

Maddox was rushed to the Carolinas Medical Center by Medic where he later died from his injuries.

It is unknown if the victim was targeted by the group.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information to the incident is asked to all Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
