Group Works to Curb CLT Violence With Jobs, Charity
Charlotte, NC — Team TruBlue hosted a balloon release at Tuckaseegee Park in West Charlotte Saturday in memory of all the murder victims in Charlotte this year.
49 people have died so far this year.
Team TruBlue held their softball charity event as well. The group works in the community to make sure children, families, and adults have resources to help curb violence.
“I think it’s important that we as leaders or mentors or whatever in community, the older generation, gives back to the youth,” said Will Adams, founder of Team TruBlue.
Adams lost his son to gun violence in 2008 at the age of 15.
Team TruBlue also partnered with a group called Vision Beyond the Eyes Saturday to host a job fair at Freedom Park. Organizers say jobs are key in cutting the criminal cycle.
“It’s kind of a challenge in today’s society to go out and find a employment. So, being able to help our community with different resources that they may not know about is definitely important,” said Deja McMeal with Vision Beyond the Eyes.
Vision Beyond the Eyes is a non-profit that works with displaced youth.
