BOONE, N.C. — The bomb squad is investigating after a suspicious device was found near Appalachian State University.
Officials say someone called 911 around 3:30pm to report the device which is located near the intersection of Hardin Street and Howard Street.
Boone Police have cordoned off an area around the device. The following streets have been closed:
W King Street at Depot Street
E King Street at NC 105 EXT
Hardin Street at Rivers Street
All pedestrian traffic is shut down around the incident. The Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Explosives Disposal Unit is assisting.
