LENOIR, N.C. — The mother of a 10-year-old child who was killed in a wreck in Lenoir is facing charges.
Troopers say Amanda Gates has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, no operator’s license, four counts of child restraint violations, reckless driving and exceeding the posted speed limit.
The wreck happened on July 9th on Abington Road. Troopers say Gates lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle flipped several times. Clyde Gates III was killed in the crash. Troopers say he was thrown from the vehicle. Four other children were also in the vehicle and were taken to local hospitals with injuries.
