CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested an 18-year-old and a 15-year-old for their involvement in stealing property from vehicles in the Coventry Woods neighborhood.
Investigators say an officer was conducting a directed patrol in the neighborhood due to the increase in vehicle break-ins recently reported. While on patrol, the officer made contact with a juvenile and determined he was in violation of the youth protection ordinance.
While speaking with the juvenile, police say the officer located a concealed stolen purse and a taser. The juvenile was arrested and transported to his residence where a juvenile arrest was completed. The juvenile was then released to the custody of his parents.
A short time later, officers say they encountered Zachariah Robles. While speaking with Robles, investigators say he confessed that he was in possession of stolen property that had been taken from vehicles overnight.
Robles was placed under arrest. At this time, officers have located two victims who had their vehicles broken into but still have unclaimed property. Detectives are asking anyone who lives in the area and may be a victim to call 911 to speak with an officer to determine if the recovered property is theirs.
