CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — Officials are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a burning home in Catawba County.
The fire was reported early Saturday morning at a home on U.S. 321 Highway in Newton. Crews found 40-year-old Harry Lewis Bruner, Jr. dead inside the home. After further investigation, detectives revealed that Bruner died from a gunshot wound.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to call 911 immediately.
