CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they are searching for a Park Road carjacking suspect in a pond in west Charlotte.
Investigators say they arrested Jerry McCorey for a car jacking that happened Monday evening on Park Road.

Jerry McCorey
McCorey and a second suspect, who has not been identified, were seen driving the vehicle taken during the carjacking on I-77 near S. Clarkson Street, according to a news release.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle but say the suspects jumped and ran from the scene. McCorey was found a short time later. A CMPD K-9 unit responded and assisted patrol officers and located the second suspect’s footprints, which led into the creek.
However, the K-9 unit was unable to locate an additional trail on the other side of the creek. At this time, CMPD believe the suspect entered the creek. Due to heavy rain and severe weather conditions, the creek had risen from approximately one foot to nearly 8-feet deep.
CMPD says there is concern for the suspect’s safety due to the conditions in the creek. The fire department is now assisting with the search of the suspect in the creek.
Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or wellbeing to call 911.
