Charlotte Man Gets Stabbed After Inviting Alleged Homeless Man To His House

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they are searching for a suspect accused of stabbing and robbing a man who invited him into his home.

Investigators say the victim befriended a man at the bus stop in the Uptown area and due to a handicap, had asked the man to get money out of an ATM using his card.

After getting money out of the ATM, the victim invited the suspect to share a meal and stay with him at his home, since the suspect appeared to be homeless, according to a news release.

During the night, the victim told police he woke up to the suspect holding a knife to him and demanding his wallet.  The suspect then reportedly stabbed the victim several times and left with his wallet.

The suspect fled the scene and used the victim’s ATM card at a business on West Trade Street, according to police.  The suspect was captured on surveillance video using the card.

The suspect is described as a homeless man that frequents the Uptown area.  He is black with dark skin, approximately 45-years-old, 5’9″ and 180lbs.  He also had a mustache and goatee.
