Deputies: Lincoln County Man Shot Ex-Girlfriend In The Face

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — A Lincoln County man is facing attempted first degree murder charges after deputies say he shot his ex-girlfriend in the face.

Investigators say they were dispatched to David Conn’s residence on King Wilkinson Road around 10pm Tuesday evening after he reported he had shot 44-year-old Josephine Brown.

Deputies found Brown at a nearby residence with a gunshot wound to the face.  She was able to drive away from the scene to that location, according to a news release.  Deputies say she was shot with a .25 caliber pistol while sitting in her car.  She was transported to a hospital in Charlotte where she is listed in serious but stable condition.

Conn was taken into custody inside the horse trailer deputies say he was living in.  Deputies say  Conn first said he shot Brown after she pointed a gun at him.  But later during an interview, deputies say he admitted to shooting Brown without provocation.

Conn has been charged with attempted first degree murder.  He is currently in jail without bond.
