CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested a man for having a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The man was charged with carrying a weapon on airport property. Β To date, TSA officers have detected 36 firearms at Charlotte Douglas International Airport this year. Β TSA found 54 firearms at the airport in 2016.

TSA has details on how to properly travel with a firearm on TSA.gov. Β Airlines may have additional requirements for traveling with firearms and ammunition so travelers should contact their airline regarding firearm and ammunition carriage policies.
