Wilson’s World: Visiting Charlotte’s #1 Magnet School in the Country, Idlewild Elementary School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was visiting another elementary school this morning, but it wasn’t just any elementary school.  He was at Idlewild Elementary School which was named the #1 Magnet School in America!  Out of 4,000 magnet schools, Charlotte’s Idlewild Elementary is the best!

Principal Larenda Denien,  Magnet Coordinator Amanda Helms , Assistant Principal Matthew Slota and 5th grade teacher Leigh Waldrep all joined Wilson while he was there to talk about the school, their Ronald P. Simpson Award, their diverse student body and the partnerships that help keep their school at the top of the magnet school program.  They also discussed the school’s lunch buddy program and how important it is to have volunteers to work with the kids.

Tammy Medders with Church at Charlotte and Catherine Knuckles of New Charlotte Church discussed their partnership with Idlewild Elementary and how their faith based partnership makes a difference at the school and throughout the city.  If your group would like to be partnered with Idlewild Elementary School, reach out to the school at there website HERE.
