Teen Sentenced For Shooting Cornelius Police Officer

CORNELIUS, NC — A teenager who pleaded guilting to shooting a Cornelius police officer has been sentenced.

16-year-old Greyson Ferrell pled guilty to assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer charges.  He was sentenced to 92-123 months in prison. He was also sentenced to an additional 31-50 months in prison; that sentence will be suspended pending his successful completion of 60 months of supervised probation.

He was originally indicted by a grand jury on attempted first-degree murder, assault on a government official and possession of a gun by a minor charges.

Investigators say Ferrell shot Lieutenant James Quattlebaum in May 2015 during a domestic disturbance at the teen’s home.
