GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The Gaston County Animal Care and Enforcement Animal Shelter is suspending the intake and adoption of cats for two weeks after three confirmed cases of feline panleukopenia.
Feline panleukopenia is more commonly known as feline distemper and is extremely contagious and deadly.
The shelter will not admit new cats to the facility from September 15, 2017 until October 3, 2017 as a precaution to prevent the spread of the disease.
