Union County Woman Jumps In Pond To Save Autistic Child

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A woman is being praised for jumping into a pond in Lake Park to rescue an autistic child who was in the water.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office shared a video on Facebook showing Deborah Fox jumping into the water and pulling the child to safety.

The child was unharmed and returned to his family. Β Deputies say a concerned motorist, who was unable to swim, ran to a residence and got Fox to help.

Lake Park Pond RescueAttached is a video clip made by a Lake Park resident. Yesterday afternoon, a passing motorist noticed a young child in the pond. The concerned motorist, unable to swim, ran to a residence and got the attention of Deborah Fox. Ms. Fox ran to the pond and immediately swam to the child and pulled him from the water. UCSO deputies were notified and determined he was a young male child with autism. The child was unharmed and returned to his family. Great job Deborah Fox!!
