Man Who Allegedly Stole A Truck Sunday With Kids Inside Arrested After Chase

CHARLOTTE, NC –Police have arrested the man accused of carjacking a truck Sunday with two kids still inside.

Police say 46-year-old Howard Watson led them on a chase from west to north Charlotte Monday afternoon. Watson then jumped out of the truck on Roddey Avenue and was captured a short time later on Atando Avenue.

Watson was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a K9 bit him during the chase.

According to officials, the truck Watson was driving was carjacked from the Quick Trip on Clanton Road Sunday afternoon. A couple from Raleigh went into the store and left the car running with their two young sons inside.

That’s when officials say Watson jumped in and took off. The boys both jumped out of the truck and are said to be okay.

Police say Watson faces a long list of charges which will be handed down once he is released from the hospital.
