Suspect Arrested After CMPD Officer Walks Into Store Mid-Robbery
CHARLOTTE, NC — An unexpected pit stop for one CMPD officer really paid off Sunday morning. Officer Kevin Woolcock walked into a Charlotte gas station mid-robbery.
Police say it was an extremely dangerous situation at the gas station on Mallard Creek Road. An officer and two women inside, plus a robber armed with a gun.
Officer Woolcock walked into the gas station around 5am Sunday. He says the clerk came at him and warned him about someone in the back with a gun.
The officer says he immediately heard the robber rustling around in the back office. Woolcock says he ordered the suspect to come out with their hands up and lay down on the ground, and that’s exactly what they did.
Once the officer had the gunman on the ground, others arrived and arrested the suspect.
Ronald Lynch Junior is charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and Kidnapping.
