CMS Releases Report on School Bus Fire, Department Of Instruction Issues Memo
The Latest:
The North Carolina Department of Instruction Transportation Division is requiring inspections for specific school buses statewide following two recent Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus fires.
In a memo, the Department of Instruction says all 1998-2003 model buses with a Caterpillar engine must be reinspected and repaired if needed.
CMS says all 259 buses with similar engines have been inspected according to the detailed instructions with no areas of concern found.
The school system also says it will continue to investigate and correct any potential hazards that pose a threat to students or staff.
