The Red Cross Is Celebrating 100 Years Serving The Charlotte Metro Area

CHARLOTTE, NC — Red Cross volunteers held a celebration Saturday to commemorate their 100 year milestone. They serve more than one million people in Mecklenburg and Iredell Counties.

The Red Cross provides shelter after natural disasters, help local families after fires, and more.

“Whether it was a pandemic, military family or blood donations… we met those needs for over 100 years,” said Angela Broome-Powley of The Red Cross of Western North Carolina Region.

The Red Cross is also asking you to do one of four things to mark this anniversary: take a CPR course, make a disaster kit, download the Red Cross emergency app on your phone, or give blood if you can.
