CHARLOTTE, NC — The City of Charlotte is gearing up for a big weekend in honor of MLK day.
Moira Quinn from Charlotte Center City Partners stopped by with a rundown of all the events happening.
MLK Day of Service
Saturday, Jan 13, Noon-2:00 p.m.
Each year, Hands On Charlotte honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by organizing service projects for hundreds of volunteers around the holiday that bears his name. These projects not only deliver valuable assistance to nonprofit organizations, schools and other service providers, but also allow participants to kick off the New Year by reflecting on the meaning of Dr. King’s life of service.
MLK Parade
Jan 13, 10a.m.-12p.m.
Located on Tryon Street from 9th Street to Stonewall Street
A Charlotte tradition since 1981, the 2018 MLK Holiday Parade in Uptown Charlotte includes more than 100 community organizations, marching bands, floats and dance performers sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System.
