GASTONIA, N.C. — Police are investigating after a student was struck by a vehicle on East Garrison Boulevard in Gastonia.
Investigators say the 7th grade student from Grier Middle School was hit by a car that was traveling west on East Garrision Blvd just after 7am.
The student has serious but not life threatening injuries and taken to CaroMont Regional Medical Center and then taken to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
The student was conscious at the scene but had leg and head injuries, according to a news release. Preliminary information shows that the student was not in the crosswalk and was running across the street when the accident happened, according to police.
Charges against the driver are not expected at this time.
