Wilson’s World: Visiting the Athletes at the Charlotte Curling Center
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson will be watching his favorite sport when the Olympics start next month…curling. And to get himself geared up for the big games, he decided to head out to the Charlotte Curling Center.
Founded in 2010 the Charlotte Curling Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sport of curling and helping it to flourish in the Charlotte area. Members range in age from 6 to 80 and have anywhere from no curling experience to seasoned veterans.
At their facility located at 6525 Old Statesville Road in Charlotte they offer classes for the younger curler as well as curling enthusiasts who have various mental and physical disabilities. Not only is curling recognized as an official sport in the Olympics but it is also an official sport of the Paralympic Games.
Beginning February 10th and running until February 25th if you are interested in the sport of curling and would like to learn, the Charlotte Curling Association will offer classes for beginners. They will also be holding 3 very special learn to curl classes where participants will be learning from Olympic champion Canadian Carolyn McRorie. Find out more about these classes at the Charlotte Curling Association’s website charlottecurling.com.
