Wilson’s World: UNC Charlotte’s 2018 Annual 49ers4Life Blood Drive
UNC Charlotte's 49ers4Life Blood Drive runs until 7pm this evening.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson always likes to stop in at Halton Arena at UNC Charlotte each year as they kick off their 49ers4Life Blood Drive. Again this year he was there as the students and faculty at UNC Charlotte respond to the call from the American Red Cross to help get their blood supply re-stocked. This year, the need for blood has reached a critical level.
Wilson talked with students, faculty, donors and even recipients as they were getting the day started. One alumna was Ushvani Jagedo who on her 15th birthday had to receive blood, knows the importance of blood donation. Maya Franklin and Angela Broome Powley both with the American Red Cross talked with Wilson about factors that have caused a shortage of blood donations and how the American Red Cross is there to help in ways other than blood donations.
Wilson had a little fun playing “Name that Tune” will a few of the kids who are volunteering their time to help out today. Sure made Wilson feel old.
The 49ers4Life Blood Drive continues in the Halton Arena inside the Barnhardt Student Activity Center on the campus at UNC Charlotte until 7pm today. For more information on the 49ers4Life Blood Drive click HERE.
