CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash in east Charlotte Sunday morning.
Police say Jose Quistan Coronado, 31, died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.
According to the CMPD, Mr. Coronado was operating a Ford Ranger at the intersection of E.W.T. Harris Boulevard and Milton Road, when he attempted to make a left turn while the left turn arrow was red.
Mr. Coronado’s Ford Ranger collided head on with a Nissan Altima with three people inside. Mr. Coronado was pinned inside his vehicle and unresponsive. After being extracted from his vehicle, Mr. Coronado was pronounced dead by MEDIC.
All three people in the Altima were transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The wreck is still under investigation but police say alcohol use is suspected as a contributing factor for Mr. Coronado in this accident.
