Two Men Arrested For Series Of Car Break-Ins In North Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two men have been arrested for their involvement in a series of car break-ins in Charlotte dating back to December of last year.

Malik Carter, 20, has been charged with nine counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, five counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Larceny, Possession of Fireman by Felon, Larceny of a Firearm, Financial Card Theft, Financial Card Fraud and Felony Conspiracy.

Shakor Daniels, 19, has been charged with nine counts of Breaking and Entering of a Motor Vehicle, five counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, Felony Conspiracy, and Possession of Stolen Property.

The CMPD says officers responded to a vehicle theft in the 13100 block of Reunion Street on December 25th, 2017, in which a firearm was stolen.  The vehicle was located shortly thereafter on Maribel Avenue in Charlotte.

On January 5th, 2018, Carter was arrested and charged with Tampering With a Motor Vehicle, after police responded to reports of subjects pulling on car door handles to see if they were open.  While searching a vehicle that Carter and the other subjects were using, police discovered the stolen gun from the Reunion Street vehicle theft.

Detectives from multiple divisions shared evidence and reviewed similar cases to develop Carter and Daniels as suspects in five larceny from vehicle cases since February 19, 2018, in the Oakbrooke neighborhood.  Carter was also determined to be the suspect in the Reunion Street vehicle theft.

Carter had been in custody since being arrested on February 23, 2018, and Daniels was located and arrested this morning.

Anyone with information concerning theses cases or the suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
