13-Year-Old Girl Charged With Pulling Knife On Cabarrus County Teacher, Having Gun In Backpack

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Cabarrus County Sheriff Brad Riley says a 13-year-old girl is facing serious charges for pulling a knife on a teacher and having a gun and ammunition in her backpack.

The incident happened Friday, March 9th at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School.  The student was reportedly subdued by another teacher.  After officials searched the student’s backpack, they said the girl also had a handgun and ammunition.

The student has been charged with assault on the teacher and for bringing a weapon on campus.  The parents of the student have also been charged with failure to secure weapons from a minor.
