STATESVILLE, N.C. — Investigators say an 85-year-old man is facing sexual assault charges in Statesville.
Daniel Lopez Ruiz is accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at her home on March 15th. The victim reported the abuse and was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. That’s where investigators say the victim identified Ruiz as the suspect.
Based on the investigation and evidence gathered, investigators obtained a felony arrest warrant for Ruiz for taking indecent liberties with a child, according to a news release.
Ruiz was arrested on March 22nd. He received a $250,000 bond. Investigators say Ruiz resides in Mexico but came to Iredell County on March 12th.
