Daycare Worker From Lincolnton Arrested For Pulling Child’s Hair

DENVER, N.C. — A Lincolnton woman has been charged with a misdemeanor count of child abuse after she allegedly pulled the hair of an 18-month-old child at a daycare.

The mother of the 18-month-old told police she received a call from the Mini Academy Daycare Center on Unity Church Road in Denver and was told that another child had pulled her daughter’s hair hard enough to pull hair out but the child was okay.

Several hours later, a staff member at the academy called the mother and told her that after they reviewed the video it showed a staff member pulling the child’s hair and not another child.  The employee, Rebecca DeGregory, 23, was suspended then terminated from the daycare center by the owner.

DeGregory was charged with one count of child abuse.  She was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond with a court date of April 6th.
