LANCASTER, S.C. — Deputies say they arrested a Lancaster County woman who is accused of trying to rob several businesses while wearing a black dress.
Deputies were reportedly called just before 10:30pm on April 2nd to a robbery at Lloyd’s on Monroe Highway. Another deputy was then dispatched to the Lancaster Inn on Charlotte Highway for a report of an attempted armed robbery.
The clerk at Lloyd’s was alone in the store when deputies say a white female dressed in black entered the store and demanded money. The robber reportedly had one of her hands covered and appeared to be holding a gun. The robber left the store with cash and drove away in a maroon sedan, according to a police report.
The owner of the Lancaster Inn told the responding deputy that a white female came into the business twice. The first time she knocked on the window in the lobby and abruptly left, according to a news release. The owner says she then came back with part of her face covered. She reportedly pointed an object at the owner and demanded money. Surveillance video shows a white female wearing a black dress driving away in a maroon sedan.
A short time later, deputies spotted a maroon Chrysler Sebring in the parking lot of Crenco on South Main Street in Lancaster. The driver, Jessica Talford, 25, was wearing a black dress. The deputy detained her and searched the vehicle. Deputies say Talford had a small amount of cash and crack pipe concealed in her clothing.
Talford is being charged with one count of armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.
