A Charlotte Man Is In Jail Accused Of Kidnapping, Raping And Beating His Girlfriend
CHARLOTTE, NC.– A Charlotte man is in jail accused of kidnapping, raping and beating his girlfriend. CMPD detectives rescued that woman after finding her at the brink of death.
That woman is in the hospital recovering. This started as a missing person’s case, but police suspected foul play, which led them to her boyfriend’s house. Court documents accuse him of beating her with a stainless steal bowl and punching her.
CMPD says a woman was being held hostage, raped and beaten by her boyfriend — 35-year-old Jamuel Alston.
Family members reported her missing on March 26th. Police initially thought she was dead, the possible victim of foul play. Family members knew she had been dating a new guy- but didn’t know his last name. They kept digging and found her car at The Brandywine Condos the next day. Officers knocked on the door, Alston answered and investigators heard the victim cry out for help.
“I can deal with dead people all day long. You show me a live person suffering, and that rips right through my soul because that shouldn’t happen to any human being,” says CMPD Lt.Β Susan Manassah.
Detectives found the woman clinging to life in a bedroom.
“She mouthed to them thank you, alright. So she knows the fact that these guys saved her life,” says Lt. Manassah.
Alston is charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, three counts of first-degree forcible rape, first-degree kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon.
