Lenoir K9s Get Protective Vests Thanks To Charitable Donation
LENOIR, NC — Lenoir Police Department K9s Axel, Mato, and Cerik have received bullet and stab protective vests thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The vests were sponsored by an anonymous donor and embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love – Trained to Serve – Loyal Always”.
“We are thankful for the grant and the opportunity to provide even greater protection for our K-9 partners,” Police Chief Scott Brown said. “Captain Wilson did a great job coordinating the application process, and we’ve had tremendous support from our community in this effort.”
Lenoir’s K9s performed 16 tracks last year leading to six apprehensions. They also completed 20 building searches and 207 narcotics searches leading to the seizure of more than $25,000 in cash and more than $340,000 in narcotics.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) charity located in East Taunton, MA. The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. with law enforcement or related agencies who are certified and at least 20 months of age.
