Officials: Student Brought Loaded Gun To Olympic High School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a student brought a loaded handgun to Olympic High School Monday.  The school’s principal sent this letter to parents:

Safety of students and staff is a top priority for our team at all Olympic campuses.  Today it was brought to our attention that a student brought onto campus a loaded handgun.  The weapon was found by staff during a search of the students belongings.  This is a very serious matter and the student is being disciplined to the fullest extent based on our Code of Student Conduct.  We are asking our parents to please speak to your children about the severity and consequences for poor choices that can potentially put students and staff in danger. We look forward to maintaining a safe educational environment for all students and staff daily.  Thank you for supporting the Olympic community of schools.
