SHELBY, N.C. — Police say they are searching for the suspects accused of shooting at officers in Shelby.
Investigators say officers responded to the area of Lincoln Street and Lineberger Street in reference to shots being fired.
One person was reportedly shot the leg and taken by a private vehicle to a local hospital. While investigating, officers tried to stop a vehicle traveling down Suttle Street.
Police say the occupants of the vehicle jumped out and ran on foot. As they exited the vehicle, police say one of the suspects fired at least one round from a rifle at the officers.
Officers reportedly returned fire as they were being fired upon. Neither the officers nor the suspect were injured.
Police say the suspects are still wanted at this time. Anyone with information about these suspects is asked to call 911 immediately.
