York County, S.C. Tourism Leaders Salute Travelers During Annual “Grits Stop” Celebration

YORK COUNTY, S.C. —  Area travel industry employees and representatives from the City of Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department, the Olde English District Tourism Commission and the Rock Hill/York County Convention & Visitors Bureau will come together for “Grits Stop” this Friday at the South Carolina Welcome Center.

Congress signed a resolution thirty-five years ago to annually celebrate the travel and tourism industry.  This year, York County tourism leaders recognize this landmark by celebrating travel and tourism’s impact on the local economy and the lives of our residents and visitors as tourism leaders thank those who visit South Carolina with our annual “Grits Stop” celebration on May 11th.

Local tourism leaders and friends will greet visitors from near and far who stop for a travel break at the SC Welcome Center in Fort Mill with old-style crafted grits, the featured dish of the celebration, as well as locally grown strawberries, boiled peanuts, cheese straws, sweet tea and other delightful southern favorites.  In addition to representatives from local attractions, area hotels, costumed interpreters, and mascots; a few four-legged cast members from NarroWay Productions are expected to be on-site to greet travelers.
