Police Make Arrests After Multiple Shootings In East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – Police stayed busy this weekend as violence continues to escalate in the Queen City.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made several arrests after nine people were shot in less than 48 hours. Two of the victims have died.

Police have charged 19-year-old Primitivo Carreto, 18-year-old Chadwick Pearson and two, male, 15-year-old juveniles for their involvement in the shootings. Carreto, Pearson and one of the junveniles was located in the 22200 block of Lanecrest Drive. The second juvenile was arrested on Perth Court.

                           

The most recent shooting happened Sunday afternoon on Irma Street in North Charlotte.

“You’ll hear cars going up the street, shooting up in the air and stuff, but never experienced this,” one neighbor says.

Investigators say someone opened fire in the middle of the afternoon right around 4:00. Police say one of the victims has life-threatening injuries.

“I didn’t do nothing but hear the car screeching, I didn’t even look to see where I was because I was about to hit the floor,” a neighbor says.

Police and the SWAT team have remained busy all weekend.

Another triple-shooting happened just before two Sunday morning near SMS Catering on Norland Road.

Police say two men and a woman were shot after a party. One of the men has life-threatening injuries.

A few hours earlier, police found 36-year-old Nicholas Boger dead under an SUV on Elm Forest Drive. That’s off Idlewild Road.

A 911 caller told police Boger had been hit by the SUV. Investigators later found evidence of shots fired.

We’ve also learned 19-year-old Gavino Romero is the victim shot and killed inside a car on Perth Court. That’s near Milton Road.

It happened just after 12:30 Saturday afternoon. Another person in the car was hurt.

Police tracked the suspects to a nearby home, where they surrendered after a short SWAT standoff.

Pearson was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, shooting into occupied property, possession of a firearm by conviced felony and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Carreto was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both have been transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.

The two juveniles were charged with murder, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. Both were sent to a juvenile detention facility.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have now investigated 21 murders so far this year.
