Wilson’s World: Gearing Up for the 2018 Coca Cola 600 Weekend at Charlotte Motor Speeday
CONCORD, N.C. – For Wilson, this weekend is better than Christmas. It’s Coca Cola 600 weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Fun at the speedway has already started with campers moving in and getting settled. Wilson headed out to Concord this morning to talk with some of the race fans that are already there as well as Xfinity driver Christopher Bell.
Wilson talked with Jim and Kay Weisburg who are volunteers with the Speedway Children’s Charities about their work with the organization. Bernie and Charlene from Ontario, Canada about their trips to North Carolina and their love of the race.
But the highlight of the morning was Wilson’s visit with Chris and Emily. The couple met at a 600 race and have decided to get married at this year’s race. Their wedding will take place on Sunday at the start/finish line before the Coca Cola 600.
As they do every Memorial Day, the Charlotte Motor Speedway will have one of the world’s largest celebrations to honor fallen soldiers and our active military. And this year they plan on making the celebration even larger with fly-overs, helicopters and more.
All of the fun kicks off on Thursday with Pole night, the Outlaw Showdown on Friday night, the Xfinity race on Saturday and continues through the Coca Cola 600 on Sunday. But there is more than racing that the whole family can enjoy with the Fan Zone, 10 acres of interactive displays, concerts and much, much more.
