Fort Mill High School Band Hosting Fundraiser For Beloved Band Director

FORT MILL, S.C. — The Fort Mill High School Band is holding a fundraiser to assist their band director with unexpected recovery expenses following triple bypass surgery in February.

John Pruitt, who has been the band director at Fort Mill High School for 10 years, underwent triple bypass surgery in February and was expected to recover in six weeks.

As a result of the surgery, Mr. Pruitt suffered three massive strokes and is now dealing with severe cognitive issues and has taken an indefinite leave of absence.

Mr. Pruitt’s family was able to find a clinic that  treats his specific type of brain trauma in Atlanta, but the cost is over $1,000 per day and he will need to be there for at least 90 days.  So, the family started a GoFundMe page, which has already raised $35,000 in less than 10 days.

However, they are still well short of their $100,000 goal.

To help with the expenses, the Fort Mill Band is hosting a Pasta for Pruitt fundraiser on Thursday May 24th, 2018, at Fort Mill High School.

The fundraiser will include dinner provided by Brixx Pizza and Papa John’s, as well as silent and live auctions and of course, music!
