Wilson’s World: Visiting the Isabella Santos Foundation Platelet Drive at Community Blood Center of the Carolinas
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas where today is the last day of the Isabella Santos Foundation Platelet Drive.
The Isabella Santos Foundation is named for young Isabella Santos who was diagnosed in 2007 of neuroblastoma. Thanks to donors she was able to receive blood and platelet transfusions that gave her 5 more years of smiles and memories. Her legacy continues through the foundation and their fight to help other children with cancer. More information on the Isabella Santos Foundation can be found at their website isabellasantosfoundation.org.
Summer is always an important time of the year for blood donations as the need for blood rises sharply. The Community Blood Center of the Carolinas is a locally managed non-profit community blood center and is the primary blood supplier for hospitals and patients in North and South Carolina. Their website at cbcc.us lists locations as well as upcoming blood drives and events and how organizations can hold their own blood drive.
