YORK, S.C. — A York County man has been charged with stealing $16,000 from ATM’s he was installing in several South Carolina counties.
John Edward Martin,28, is is charged with Grand Larceny of more than $10,000 and is being held in the York County Detention Center. He is accused of taking $15,920 from Wells Fargo ATM’s in York, Spartanburg, and Richland counties in South Carolina.
Martin was an employee of One Source Security and Sound, which was the company contracted to install the machines.
Wells Fargo contacted the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the currency thefts and SLED was able to identify Martin as a suspect using video footage.
Following an interview with SLED agents, Martin confessed in a written statement.
