911 Call Released In Case Of Teen Charged With Fatally Shooting Friend On Sunday

The CMPD has released the 911 call made after Harding High School student Jamie Bright was fatally shot by his friend Jermarion Worthy early Sunday morning.

A viewing for Jamie Bright will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Bright’s funeral is Saturday at 10 a.m. at University Park Baptist Church on Beatties Ford Road. The public is invited.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  A teenager is in custody following a shooting that left another teenager dead in Charlotte overnight.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says officers responded to a shooting in the 1500 block of Clanton Road at 1:06 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Officers located 18-year-old Jamie Bright suffering from a gunshot wound.  Medic pronounced Bright dead at the scene.

Jermarion David Pernell Worthy, 17, stayed on the scene of the shooting and, following an interview at CMPD headquarters, he was charged with Murder.

Police say Worthy and Bright were known to each other and the case is still under investigation.
