Wilson’s World: Learning About the Y-Readers Program at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was visiting kids at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School that were taking time out of their summer vacation to stay connected with their reading skills with the YMCA’s Y-Readers program.

The Y-Readers program is for rising 1st through 3rd graders that are having problems with reading at their levels.  The program provides additional support these students need to be proficient in reading by the end of third grade.

While at the school Wilson presented his latest “Wilson’s Moment of Good” award to Georgia Springs, a Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools teacher for 30 years who has been with Huntingtowne Farms for 7 years…and who really loves her students.  “Wilson’s Moment of Good” is sponsored by One Hour Heating & Air Conditioning.

Volunteers are always needed to help with the Y-Readers program.  Find out more about the Y-Readers program and how you can volunteer at the YMCA’s website HERE.
