GASTON COUNTY, NC — Storms brought down a major power line Wednesday night on part of Highway 321 in Gaston County. The road will be closed until the morning rush.
WCCB crews have been tracking the county wide storm damage in some of the hardest hit places.
A massive tree fell onto one home on North Lincoln Road in High Shoals. The family who rents the home says you can see parts of the branches in the kitchen.
Right across the street from that house, there are tree branches on top of a car and spread all across the yard.
Down power lines are also causing major traffic backups on US-321.
One portion of 321 north and south will be closed until Thursday morning while crews work to clear a down tree and repair power lines. Drivers are advised to use these alternate routes:
- For 321 north drivers, use Hardin Road to Old US-321.
- For 321 south drivers, use High Shoals Road to Old US-321.
In Dallas, a tree fell and is now blocking the entire roadway. No one was able to get through for hours.
A High Shoals Road resident who lives near where the tree fell says he had to wait on the side of the road while crews worked to clear it just so he could get home.
Gaston County Dispatch says crews will be working throughout the night cleaning up the damage.
